King arrived at Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) alongside four other dogs when his owners were no longer able to care for them. While the shelter staff was ready to help him find his next chapter, they quickly noticed that something wasn’t right with his front leg.
After examining King, the veterinarian determined that his leg had been broken for some time. Because the injury had gone untreated, amputation was the best way to give him the relief and quality of life he deserved. King was still his happy, sweet self, doing his best to keep up with the world around him, but it was clear that he was hurting and needed someone to step in and help.
That’s where the Peoria Humane Society came in. PHS covered the cost of King’s surgery and treatment, giving him the chance to leave his pain behind and start fresh. Thanks to that support, King could focus on what he did best, being the lovable dog everyone around him could see he was.
And King’s happy ending didn’t stop with his recovery. One of the veterinary technicians caring for him knew a family member who was looking to adopt a Pit Bull, and she thought of King. It turned out to be the perfect match. King found his forever home, where he can enjoy life without the pain he had been living with for so long.
With the help of generous supporters like you, PHS can step in when an animal needs more than the standard medical care.
Your generosity makes happy endings like King’s possible. When you donate to the Peoria Humane Society, you help give animals in our community a chance at healthier, happier lives, no matter what they’ve been through before they arrive.
