The Peoria Humane Society is offering a reading to dogs program to benefit children and dogs. Paws to Read visits local schools and libraries promoting the benefits of reading for children of all ages.
Established in 2005, the Paws to Read program helps children develop their literacy skills by reading to specially trained therapy dogs. The children have fun petting a furry friend while improving their reading skills and boosting their self-esteem.
Call our Education Center at 309-672-2447 to register for upcoming Paws to Read programs or to find out how you and your dog can become a reading to dogs volunteer.
Summer 2023 Paws to Read programs include Dunlap Library on June 17th at 10 am and Fondulac Libray on July 8th at 10 am.
