Youth Education

In celebration of Be Kind to Animals Week, the Peoria Humane Society hosts a poster contest for 2nd-grade students in our Adopt-A-Schools. Students illustrate examples of our core values of peace, kindness, responsibility, and respect.

The students must use original artwork drawn in class under the teacher's supervision. The posters are judged for creativity, use of color, and the content of the message. KINDNESS COUNTS is the theme each year, with the underlying message to promote kindness, responsibility, peace, and respect towards animals.

There are 1st-4th place winners that are awarded various prizes including gift cards, movie passes, and bicycles.  The winners and their families were also invited to attend an award ceremony at Northwoods Mall Center Court.
