The Peoria Humane Society is offering a reading to dogs program to benefit children and dogs. Paws to Read visits local schools and libraries promoting the benefits of reading for children of all ages. Established in 2005, the Paws to Read program helps children develop their literacy skills by reading to specially trained therapy dogs. The children have fun petting a furry friend while improving their reading skills and boosting their self esteem. Pre-registration is not required, but is apprecaited so the correct number of volunteers and their dogs can be present.
