Brittany Barnes

If you joined us at our Bark in the Park fundraiser this year, you may have noticed a few changes. First of all, the Bark was held in September after being in October for years. The main reason for the move was conflicting schedules and weather issues. The weather for the 2018 Bark in the Park held on September 9th, 2018 and thanks to the remanents of a tropical storm moving through, looked like it was going to be a wet, soggy, muddy day. Luckily for PHS, the rain moved out and it turned out to be a gorgeous Sunday on the riverfont.

Besides the change in the date, there was another major move for Bark in the Park 2018. After the third straight day of rain leading up to the event, the Peoria Park District called and said it would not be possible to hold the event in the field as it always was in the past. Bark coordinators had to scramble to come up with a new layout that would put the entire event on the concrete in and around the Gateway building. The new layout actually ended up being a blessing in disguise. It worked out better for vendors and activities to be on the concrete! It may actually stay that way, with a few tweaks of course, for future Bark in the Park events!

Thank you to all sponsors, volunteers, committee members, and participants. Thanks to you the Bark in the Park raised about $35,000 for animals in need!
