The HUMANe RACE

The HUMANe RACE 2016 is

Sunday, May 1st, 2016 at 1:00pm!

 

 

The HUMANe RACE is a 5k run/walk and 1 mile walk to benefit the Peoria Humane Society.  If you are an animal lover of fur, feathers, fins, or scales or you are simply looking for a fun way to be physically active, the HUMANe RACE is for you!

 

The 2016 the HUMANe RACE will return to Bradley Park! The course route will run throughout the park with post race activities and awards at the lower Bradley Park pavillion near the tennis courts. This year's 5k race will be a timed event, with awards for various age brackets and broken into both male and female competitors.

You can still register in person at the event. Race Day registration is $25.

RACE INFORMATION

This year’s HUMANe RACE  will be a timed 5k run as well as a 1 mile run/walk throughout Bradley Park.  It will begin and end in lower Bradley Park near the pavillion by the tennis courts, with post race activities taking place inside the pavillion. Start time for the race is 1:00pm on May 1, 2016.

 

Awards will be given for the following:

Male - Under 19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+

Female - Under 19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+

Over all Top Male, Top Female, and Top Dog

 

The 2016 HUMANe Race is a part of the Illinois Valley Striders Grand Prix Series.  To learn more please go to the Illinois Valley Striders' website: http://www.ivs.org.

 

Participants are welcome to bring a pet with them to The HUMANe Race. Well-behaved, leashed pets with current vaccinations are welcome to join the HUMANe RACE.  Please use common sense when deciding to participate with your pet. Retractable leashes are not allowed.  Please be responsible and pick up after your pet.  Water will be provided for pets.  The Peoria Humane Society will not be responsible for your pet’s behavior or action. Dogs participating with their owners in the timed run should be experienced/trained runners.

 

The HUMANe RACE benefits the Peoria Humane Society, as well as promotes physical activity and fitness. 
 

REGISTRATION

$20 registration fee

$30 registration fee with T-shirt (must be registered by April 11th to receive T-shirt*)

$25 race day registration fee

IVS Grand Prix participants receive a $5 discount. Please contact the IVS Grand Prix Administrator to receive your promo code.

*Limited number of shirts will be available on Race Day for purchase 

 

PACKET PICKUP

Packet pick-up is Saturday, April 30th from 9-12pm at the Peoria Humane Society Building (2600 NE Perry Ave, Peoria, IL 61603).

Description of the Course:

Start on the main road by the bridge at the stop sign. 

Run east toward the equipment service center but veer to the left before the entrance to the service center drive.  

Run up the hill past the dog park, and then back down the hill.  Stay on the flat past the disc golf course.

Turn right toward the horse shoe courts.

Turn right before the horse shoe courts and go up the big hill.

Once at the top, turn left toward the Corn Stock tent.

Turn left through the parking lot.

Go out through the parking lot to the entrance road.

Turn right on the entrance road back toward the corn stock tent. 

Turn right on the road toward the theater lot, then turn left and go down the hill.

Turn right back to the horse shoe courts.

When you get to the parking lot, turn 180 degrees back (the same way you just came) to the main road.

Go back up the hill past the dog park.

Then go down the hill and head to the finish at the bridge.
