Summer Story Time

Summer Story Time is a great way to introduce the Peoria Humane Society's Core Values to a young audience, hopefully instilling these thoughts in their mind as they continue to grow and mature.  Story time is intended to excite young minds about various animal topics and get them to appreciate the animals on this earth in a whole new way.

Each story encourages young people to show kindness and respect to all living creatures. There is a different, animal-based theme selected each year on which the books and projects are focused. Past themes have included "Barnyard Fun,"  "Dog Days of Summer,"   and most recently "Small Animals."  At PHS Story Time you never know what fun awaits!  Special visitors have often joined the children as they learn about certain topics. Pigs, goats, and even a bee hive have all been present in years past. The 2015 story time theme was "Small Animal Friends", featuring stories and activities about rabbits, rats, guinea pigs, and mice!  Story time is a great way to bond with your child and share with them a love of animals.

Story time programs are offered on Thursdays at 2:00pm at our Education Center, located at 2600 NE Perry in Peoria on select dates in June and July.

The event is free, but space is limited so registration is required.  Call Kitty Yanko at 309-672-2447 to register your child or if you have any questions about this program.  Adults are asked to accompany their children to story times.  We hope to see you there!
