In celebration of Be Kind to Animals Week, the Peoria Humane Society hosts a poster contest for 2nd grade students in our Adopt-A-Schools. Students illustrate examples of our core values of peace, kindness, responsibility, and respect. The students must use original artwork drawn in class under the teacher's supervision. The posters are judged for creativity, use of color, and the content of the message. There is a different theme selected each year, but the underlying message remains the same: to promote kindness, responsibility, peace, and respect towards animals.
There are 1st-4th place winners that are awarded various prizes including gift cards, movie passes, and bicylces. The winners and their families are also invited to attend an award ceremony at the Humane Education Center.
